with the full concurrence of the Senior Naval Officer sanctioned Acting Colonial Chaplain Hon Mr De Previn having obtained 12 month's leave of absence during which period I received half salary and Dr Irwine the remaining half salary.

the expiration of his leave, but resigned the Office of Colonial Chaplain. I had therefore to continue to discharge the duties of the office without any assistance until Dec: 8th 1866, when
